ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂිකා ව්‍යාපාරයට වසර 100ක් පිරීම නිමිත්තෙන් ශ්‍රි ලංකා බාලදක්ෂිකා සම්මේලනයේ ශත සංවත්සර උත්සවයක් අද (12දා) කොළඹ බණ්ඩාරනායක අනුස්මරණ සම්මන්ත්‍රණ ශාලාවේදී අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතාගේ සහ මහචාර්ය මෛත්‍රී වික්‍රමසිංහ මැතිණියගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් පැවැත්විණ.
මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා පැවැසුවේ ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් ලෙස සියලු දෙනා එකමුතු කිරීමට බාලදක්ෂ සංවිධානය, බාලදක්ෂිකා ව්‍යාපාරය වැනි සියලුම සංවිධාන කැපවිය යුතු බවයි. එමෙන්ම බාලදක්ෂිකා ව්‍යාපාරය පාසල් මට්ටමින් විධිමත්ව ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරිම සදහා කටයුතු කරන බවත් ඉදිරි වසර පහ සදහා එය ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ යුතු ආකාරය පිළිබඳව වන යෝජනා තමා වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලෙසත් මෙරට සියලුම කාන්තා පාසල් තුළ බාලදක්ෂිකා ව්‍යාපාරය ආරම්භකළ යුතු බවත්, මීළඟ වසර පහ තුළ බාලදක්ෂිකා ව්‍යාපාරය දිවයින තුළ ව්‍යාප්ත කරන ආකාරය පිළිබඳ වාර්තාවක් ලබාදෙන ලෙසත් රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂිකා කොමසාරිස්වරියට පැවැසීය.එසේම ත්‍රස්තවාදි ගැටුම් පැවති කාලයේ බාලදක්ෂිකාවන් ඉතා අපහසුවෙන් ජනතා සුබසිද්ධිය උදෙසා කැප වි කටයුතු කළ බව පැවසු වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා ශ්‍රි ලංකාවේ අනන්‍යතාව රැක ගනිමින් ඔවුන් කටයුතු කිරිම පිළිබඳව සිය ප්‍රසාදය පළ කළේය. කාන්තාවන්ට සමාජය තුළ තනිව ජීවත්විමට කටයුතු කිරිමට ඉදිරියට යාමට බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරය ඉමහත් පිටුවහලක් සලසා දී ඇත බවත් සිහිපත් කලේය.
රටක් ලෙස ඉදිරියට යාමේදි කාන්තවන් හා බාලිකාවන් ප්‍රබල දායකත්වයක් ලබාදෙන බවත් බාලදක්ෂිකා ව්‍යාපාරය මහඟු කාර්යභාර්යක් ඉටුකර ඇති බවත් අගමැතිවරයා පැවසීය. වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක් වූ වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා අප ශ්‍රි ලාංකිකයන් ලෙස විවිධ සංස්කෘතින් තුළ ජීවත් වුවත් දේශපාලන හා ආගම්වාදි ලෙස බෙදි සිටිය යුතු නැතැයි කිය. රට නිදහස ලබන විට ජාතිවාදයක් නොවු බව පැවසු අගමැතිවරයා එකමුතුභාවයෙන් එකිනෙකාට ආදරය කරමින් ගෞරව කරමින් ජීවත් විමේ අවශ්‍යතාව පෙන්වා දුන් අතර එය රට ඉදිරියට ගෙනයාමට හැකි හොදම ක්‍රමය බව ද පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

The unity of Sri Lanka should be restored to what it was in 1948, when it celebrates its 70th Anniversary in 2018, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday. Speaking during an event organised by the Girl Guides Movement at the BMICH in Colombo to mark its centenary last morning, the Prime Minister said all ethnic and religious groups came together to obtain freedom in 1948.
“There was no communal or religious extremism in this country at the time it gained independence, as all ethnic and religious groups came together to win freedom,” he said.
“There were only different political ideologies. There was late Prime
Minister D. S. Senanayake who strove to bring all communities together,
while there was S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike with his own ideology and
people such as Late Dr. N. M. Perera, Pieter Keuneman and Philip
Gunawardane, who had embraced Marxism.“However, there were no religious or ethnic extremist groups at that time in the country,” he said.
He said associations such as Girl Guides Movement, which has brought all children together irrespective of their cultural identities, could continue to play a role in bringing unity among people.
The Prime Minister said that the Girl Guides Movement had played a pioneering role in establishing and safeguarding rights of the women.
“The Girl Guides Movement in Sri Lanka founded by Jenny Greene was one of the first movements through which the women in Sri Lanka began to play a role in the Sri Lanka society, while Adeline Molamure was elected as the first woman member of the Legislature some time later,” he recalled.
Premier Wickremesinghe requested the Girl Guides Association heads to provide him a plan to extend the movement in all girls schools in the country.
