The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association (SLGGA), the country's largest female-led volunteer organization for girls and young women, celebrated 107 years of proud service to the nation on March 21, 2024.

Guiding was introduced to Sri Lanka in 1917 by Miss Jennie Calverley, a young teacher from England who joined the staff of Girls’ High School Kandy, where the first Guide Company was formed. The Jennie Calverley Green Oration is held to honor and celebrate this visionary personality. Prof. Arosha Adikaram of the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, delivered the 3rd Jennie Calverley Green Oration at this occasion. The Chief Commissioner, Dr. Kushantha Herath, Deputy Chief Commissioner, Mrs. Nirmalee William, and the Assistant Chief Commissioner, Mrs. Nanduni Wickramatunga, along with members from all branches, which include Butterflies, Little Friends, Guides, Rangers, Guides from the Branch for Guides with Disabilities, Commissioners and Presidents past and present, and members of the National Executive Committee, were present at the event.
