ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂිකාවෝ ප්‍රථමවරවට ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරියක කඳවුරු බඳිති

ලෝක බාලදක්ෂ සංගමය විසින් පිළිගත් රටවල් 174ක් පුරා ව්‍යාප්තිය ඇති, දරුවන් ලක්ෂ 570ක සාමාජිකත්වයක් ඇති ලෝකයේ වැඩිම දරුවන් පිරිසක් එක්ව සිටින ළමා ව්‍යාපාරය බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරය වන අතර ශ්‍රී ලංකාව පුරා ක්‍රියාත්මක එකම බාලදක්ෂ සංගමය ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂ සංගමය බවත් ලොවටම කියාපාමින් මෙවර 10වැනි ජාතික ජම්බෝරිය අති උත්කර්ෂවත් ලෙස ත්‍රිකුණාමලයේදී පැවැත්විය. 2020 වර්ෂයේ 10වන බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බරිය පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතව තිබුණත් කොවිඩ් වසංගතය හේතුවෙන් එය කල් දැමීමට සිදු වු වූ බැවින් මෙවර ජම්බරිය පවත්වන්නේ වසර 06කට පසුවයි. මේ හේතුව නිසා මෙවර ජාතික ජම්බොරියට සහභාගීවූ බොහෝ බාලදක්ෂයන්ගේ මෙය පළමු ජාතික ජම්බෝරි අත්දැකීම වූ බව නිසැකයි.

‘‘වෙනසක් සඳහා නායකත්වය‘‘ යන තේමාව කරගනිමින් පැවැත් වෙන මෙම ජම්බෝරිය 20 වැනිදා සිට 26 වැනි දක්වා පැවැත්වෙන අතර මේ සඳහා බාලදක්ෂ දිස්ත්‍රික් 37 නියෝජනය කරමින් බාලදක්ෂ බාලක, බාලිකාවන් සහ බාලදක්ෂ නායකයන් 12000ක් පමණ ද විදෙස් බාලදක්ෂයන් හා නායකයන් 500කට ආසන්න සංඛ්‍යාවක් සහ පෝතක බාලදක්ෂයන් 8000කට ආසන් සංඛ්‍යාවක් දිනයන් පුරා ජාතික ජම්බෝරියේ කඳවුරු බඳිනු ලැබූහ. අමෙරිකාව, ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාව, කැනඩාව, ස්වීඩනය, ඔස්ට්‍රියාව, එංගලන්තය, ප්‍රංශය, පෘතුගාලය, ඉන්දියාව, දකුණු කොරියාව, සිංගප්පූරුව, තායිලන්තය, පාකිස්තානය ,බංගලාදේශය, නේපාලය, මැලේසියාව, වියට්නාමය, ඉන්දුනීසියාව ඇතුළු රටවල් 28ක බාලදක්ෂයින් 10 වන ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය සඳහා එක්  විය.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂ සංගමය සංවිධානය කළ 10 වැනි ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂ, ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් 2024.02.21 පෙරවරු 10.00ට කෝනේෂ්වරා හින්දු විද්‍යාලීය ක්‍රීඩාංගණයේ දී විවෘත කරනු ලැබූ අතර එතැන් සිට සවස 2.00 න් පසු සෑම දිනකම පෙරවරු 9.00 සිට පස්වරු 9.00 දක්වා මහජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් ජම්බෝරිය විවෘත කරනු ලැබිණ.

10 වන ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය ජනපති අතින් විවෘත වේ

ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් ලෙස සියලුදෙනා එකට එක්වුවහොත් රට සීග්‍ර සංවර්ධනයක් කරා ගෙන යමින් වඩා සුරක්ෂිත රටක් මතු පරපුරට ගොඩනඟා දිය හැකි බව ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා අවධාරණය කළේය. ජාති, ආගම් පදනමින් කිසිවෙකුත් ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය නියෝජනය නොකරන බව පෙන්වා දුන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා සෑම කාර්යයකදීම ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් ලෙස එක්වීමෙන් පේදුරු තුඩුවේ සිට දෙවුන්දර තුඩුවට එකමුතුවක් නිර්මාණය කර ගත හැකි බවද කියා සිටියේය. රටට අවශ්‍ය යහපත් පුරවැසියන් නිර්මාණය කරන බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරය පුළුල් කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය අනුහග්‍රහය ලබා දෙන බව මෙහිදී පැවසූ ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරයට තාක්ෂණ අමාත්‍යාංශය සමග එක්ව කටයුතු කිරීමට අවස්ථාව සලසා දෙන බවද සඳහන් කළේය.

“දස වැනි බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය අද ත්‍රිකුණාමලයේදී පැවැත්වෙනවා. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සෑම ප්‍රදේශයකින්ම බාලදක්ෂ බාලදක්ෂිකාවන් මීට සහභාගි වී සිටිනවා. අද ඔබ මීට සහභාගි වන්නේ තමන්ගේ පාසල වෙනුවෙන් නොවෙයි; තමන්ගේ ආගම වෙනුවෙන් නොවෙයි; තමන්ගේ ජාතිය වෙනුවෙන් නොවෙයි. අද ඔබ මෙතැනට පැමිණ සිටින්නේ ශ්‍රී ලාංකික බාලදක්ෂයකු ලෙසයි. අප සියලු දෙනාම ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයෝ.

මෙතැනට පැමිණි සියලු දෙනාටම පළමුව මගේ ස්තුතිය ප්‍රකාශ කරනවා. අද ඔබ සියලු දෙනාගේ මේ සාමූහිකත්වය පේදුරු තුඩුවේ සිට දෙවුන්දර තුඩුව දක්වා විශාල සම්බන්ධතාවක් ගොඩනැඟෙනවා; ඒ වගේම කොළඹ සහ ත්‍රිකුණාමලය දක්වා මිත්‍රත්වයක් ගොඩනැගෙනවා. ඔබේ එකමුතුකම වැඩි වෙනවා. ඒ නිසා මේ ජම්බෝරිය මඟින් විශේෂ මෙහෙවරක් සිදු වනවා.

“බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරයෙන් බිහි වන්නේ මේ රටට අවශ්‍ය යහපත් පුරවැසියන් පිරිසක්. ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂයා ලෙස මම මේ වගකීම භාර ගත් අවස්ථාවේ ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂ කොමසාරිස්වරයාගෙන් විමසා සිටියා මෙහි සාමාජිකත්වය ලක්ෂ දෙක දක්වා ඉහළ නංවාගැනීමට අපට හැකියාවක් තිබෙනවාද කියා. එය කළ හැකි බව ඔහු ප්‍රකාශ කළා. එබැවින් සියලු දෙනා එක්ව මේ බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරය ශක්තිමත් කරගත යුතුයි. ඉදිරියේදී ඒ සාමාජිකත්වය දෙලක්ෂ පනස්දහස දක්වා ඉහළ නංවාගත හැකියි. මේ සඳහා ගැටලුවක්ව පැවතියේ සම්පත් ප්‍රමාණවත් නොවීමයි. බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරය ලක්ෂ දෙකක ඉලක්කය සම්පූර්ණ කළ විට ඒ වැඩකටයුතු සඳහා මීට වඩා මුදලක් දීමට අපේක්ෂා කරන බව සඳහන් කිරීමට කැමැතියි. එහෙත් ඒ සඳහා සැලැස්මක් අවශ්‍යයි.

ඒ වගේම මෙවැනි ව්‍යාපාර මඟින් නව දැනුම හා නව තාක්ෂණය සැලසිය හැකියි. ඒ වගේම ලබන වසරේ ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය පැවැත්වෙන අවස්ථාව වන විට කෘත්‍රිම බුද්ධිය සැපයිය හැකියි. නව දැනුම ගෙනදෙන මාර්ගයක් ලෙසත් මේ බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරය අපට භාවිතයට ගත හැකියි. ඒ නිසා බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරයට තාක්ෂණ අමාත්‍යාංශය සමඟ වැඩකටයුතු කිරීමට අවස්ථාව සලසා දීමට මා බලාපොරොත්තු වනවා.

“කෘෂිකර්ම නවීකරණය, පරිසරය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම වැනි ක්ෂේත්‍රද මේ බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරය සමඟ එක් කිරීමට අපේ සහාය දෙනවා. බාලදක්ෂ ව්‍යාපාරයෙන් අප බලාපොරොත්තු වන්නේ රට වෙනුවෙන් ඔබේ යුතුකම් ඉටු කරයි කියලා. දැනට ඔබ එය සිදු කර තිබෙනවා. අනාගතයේදී එය තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත්ව සිදු කරනු ඇතැයි අප බලාපොරාත්තු වනවා.

“බාලදක්ෂයන් පමණක් නොවෙයි, අනෙක් සියලු දෙනාටත් රට වෙනුවෙන් තමන්ගේ යුතුකම ඉටු කිරීමට තිබෙනවා. එය අප සියලු දෙනා ඉටු කරනවාද කියන ප්‍රශ්නය අප හමුවේ තිබෙනවා. දේශපාලනයේ සිටින අය එය ඉටු කරනවාද කියන එක ගැටලුවක්. මීට වසර දෙකකට පෙර අප සියලු දෙනාම දුක් වින්දා: විදුලි බලය තිබුණේ නැහැ; ඉන්ධන තිබුණේ නැහැ; ගොවිතැන් කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය පොහොර ටික තිබුණේ නැහැ; තුන් වේලට ප්‍රමාණවත් ආහාර තිබුණේ නැහැ. ඉතා අසීරු යුගයක් අප පසු කළේ. අපේ රට බංකොළොත් වුණා. එහෙත් දැන් ක්‍රමානුකූලව ඒ බංකොලොත්භාවයෙන් මිදෙමින් සිටිනවා. ජනතාවට අප යම් සහන දුන් නමුත්, තවත් අසීරුකම් තිබෙනවා. ඒත් රට ජයග්‍රහණය කරවීමට නම් අප මේ මාවතේ ඉදිරියට යා යුතුයි. රට බංකොලොත්භාවයෙන් මුදාගැනීමෙන් පසු අප සියලු දෙනාගේ ඊළඟ යුතුකම වන්නේ මීට වඩා හොඳ රටක් මතු පරපුර වෙනුවෙන් ගොඩනඟා දීමයි. නැවත මෙවන් තත්ත්වයක් ඇති නොවන ලෙස රට ගොඩනැගිය යුතුයි. දේශපාලනඥයන් තවම ඒ සඳහා සුදානම්ද කියන ප්‍රශ්නය අප හමුවේ තිබෙනවා.

“අපි සියලුදෙනා එකතුව මේ ගමන යමුයි කියා මම සියලු දෙනාගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ ඒ නිසයි. අප සියලු දෙනා එකතු වුව හොත් තවත් වසර 10ක් 15ක් යන විට හොඳ රටක් බිහි කරගත හැකියි. එය මේ රට අනාගත පරපුර වෙනුවෙන් අප ඉටු කළ යුතු යුතුකම ලෙස මම ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමට කැමතියි. ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරියට මම නැවතත් මගේ සුබපැතුම් පිරිනමනවා.”

  

10වන ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරියට පැමිණි ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතාව ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂ ප්‍රධාන කොමසාරිස් නීතිඥ ජනප්‍රිත් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා විසින් පිළිගත් අතර ජනාධිපතිවරයා වෙත ජම්බෝරි කරලේන්සුව සහ පදක්කම පැලඳවීම ද සිදු කෙරිණි. ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය වෙනුවෙන් සමරු මුද්දරයක් නිකුත් කිරීම ද සිදු වූ අතර ප්‍රධාන සමරු කලාපය ඇතුළු දිස්ත්‍රික් මට්ටමින් නිර්මාණය කළ සමරු කලාප ද ජනාධිපතිවරයා වෙත පිළිගැන්විණි. ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂ සංගමයේ නව නිල ඇඳුම ප්‍රදානය සංකේතවත් කරමින් එය ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂ කොමසාරිස් නීතිඥ ජනප්‍රිත් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා වෙත පිළිගැන්වීම ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා අතින් සිදුවිය.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂ ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා වෙත ද ජම්බෝරි සිහිවටනය සහ සමරු තිළිණ පිළිගැන්විණි. 10 වන ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරියේ ස්ථාපිත කර තිබෙන කඳවුරු නිරීක්ෂණය සඳහාද අනතුරුව එක්වූ ජනාධිපතිවරයා බාලදක්ෂ බාලදක්ෂිකාවන් සමඟ සුහද කතා බහක ද නිරත විය.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂිකාවෝ ප්‍රථමවරවට 10වැනි ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ ජම්බෝරිය කඳවුරු බඳිනු ලැබූ අතර එය ඓතිහාසික සිදුවීමක් වේ.

ජම්බෝරි නායක ලෙස ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂ කොමසාරිස්, නීතිඥ ජනප්‍රිත් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා කටයුතු  කරනු  ලැබූ අතර කදවුරු සංවිධායක කොමසාරිස්වරුන් ලෙස වැඩසටහන් කොමසාරිස් සරත් මාතරආරච්චි, ජාතික පුහුණු කිරීමේ කොමසාරිස් කර්නල් පද්මලාල් පෙරේරා, නියෝජ්‍ය ජම්බෝරි නායක ලෙස නියෝජ්‍ය ප්‍රධාන කොමසාරිස් එම් එෆ් එස් මුහීඩ් යන මහත්වරුන් කටයුතු කලහ. ජම්බෝරිය සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සඳහා අධ්‍යාපන ඇමැති සුසිල් ප්‍රේමජයන්, අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ලේකම්වරයා ප්‍රමඛ නිලධාරීන්, නැගෙනහිර ආණ්ඩුකාර සෙන්දිල් තොණ්ඩමන් මහතා ඇතුළු කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය සහ සියලු රාජ්‍ය ආයතන සහය ලැබෙන බවත් මෙරට ප්‍රමුඛ පෙළේ රාජ්‍ය බැංකුවකින් හා පුද්ගලික ආයතන රැසකින් දායකත්වය ලැබෙන බවත් ප්‍රධාන බාලදක්ෂ කොමසාරිස්වරයා කියා සිටියේය.

Mr.Fernando creates the illustrations with a magnifying glass and an impressive degree of patience. 

How to Make a Solar Wood Burning

His work is a form of pyrography. Pyrography or pyrogravure is the free handed art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker. It is also known as pokerwork or wood burning. The term means "writing with fire", from the Greek pyr (fire) and graphos (writing). It can be practiced using specialized modern pyrography tools, or using a metal implement heated in a fire, or even sunlight concentrated with a magnifying lens.

Artist Cleverly Focuses Sunlight Through a Magnifying Glass to Engrave Portraits Onto Wooden Canvases. Pyrography or pyrogravure is the free handed art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker. It is also known as pokerwork or wood burning. A large range of tones and shades can be achieved. Varying the type of tip used, the temperature, or the way the iron is applied to the material all create different effects. After the design is burned in, wooden objects are often coloured. Light-coloured hardwoods such as sycamore, basswood, beech and birch are most commonly used, as their fine grain is not obtrusive. However, other woods, such as maple, pine or oak, are also used. 

Artist Mr.Markes of Magnify the SUN very cleverly uses a magnifying glass to focus the light of the sun to engrave beautiful portraits onto wooden canvases. The artist was inspired to do this work by her older brother, who would burn leaves with a magnifying glass. 

 

The videos of artists practising solar pyrography are simply incredible to watch. There is something mesmerising about watching the artists create amazing artwork on wood by using sunlight and magnifying glass. Just like this video showing artist mr.Markes Fernando. The video has gone crazy viral online and may leave you stunned too.

The Scout movement’s Founder’s Day, which marks the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, was celebrated this week. In this picture a group of scouts can be seen attending the International Mother Language day at the Independence square, Colombo 7 on 2024.02.22. It was organised by the Education Ministry and the Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo.

Colombo marks International Mother Language Day in grandeur at the Independence Square

 

Bangladesh High Commission, Colombo observed the International Mother Language Day – 2024 this morning at the historic Independence Square under the patronage of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Sri Lankan Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayanth and Foreign Minister M.U.M. Ali Sabry were the Guests of Honour.

The programme was also attended by the visiting Bangladesh Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdus Shahid, Head of Diplomatic missions and UN organizations, Chairman of Official Languages Commission of Sri Lanka, high government officials, political leaders and other high dignitaries. With the participation of cultural & media personalities, academia, intellectuals, language professionals, language institutes, and hundreds of students and scouts from schools across the island, the Independence Square turned into a grand assembly of different language speakers. This year’s theme was “Celebrating Mother Languages”. 

 

 

Dignitaries scribbled with paint and brush on canvas the word “Mother” in their own languages to express their solidarity with all mother tongues of the world. A one-minute silence was observed at the beginning of the programme in memory of the Language Martyrs of Bangladesh. The theme song (immortal Ekushey song) was rendered by Sri Lanka’s Muslim Choral Ensemble. 

 

For this occasion, under the patronage of the High Commission, Sri Lankan Education Ministry had launched an island-wide Essay Writing and Art competition for children two months back. In today’s event, the nine winners received their awards and certificates from high dignitaries.

An enthralling multilingual cultural performance was the main attraction of the observance featuring the Muslim Choral Ensemble; Department of Performing Arts, Sri Palee Campus, University of Colombo; University of Visual and Performing Arts; Royal College; as well as artists of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Russian House, Maldivian Educational and Cultural Centre, Nippon BizTech Institute, Roots of Lanka Foundation, and SAARC Cultural Centre. They performed in as many as nine different languages (Bangla, Sinhala, Tamil, Pali, Vedda, Hindi, Russian, Japanese and Dhivehi) showcasing diverse cultural traditions and love for mother tongue in the forms of song, dance, and recitation. 

 

Education Minister Dr. Premajayanth, Foreign Minister Ali Sabry, and Acting UN Resident Coordinator Azusa Kubota briefly spoke on the occasion. They appreciated the initiative of Bangladesh High Commission and underscored the importance of preservation of mother tongues and linguistic diversity. In his welcome remarks, High Commissioner of Bangladesh Tareq Md Ariful Islam reflected on significance of the Day for Bangladesh, its historical perspective and the role of mother tongues in uniting the humanity.

The observance was arranged in partnership with the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka with support of UN Offices in Colombo and Scouts Association of Sri Lanka.

Three prestigious public universities–University of Peradeniya, University of Ruhuna & University of Sri Jayewardenepura, hosted an academic conference on the same day to celebrate the International Mother Language Day with Bangladesh High Commissioner Tareq Ariful Islam as Guest of Honour. He also spoke at that event.

A blood-donation camp was also arranged by the High Commission in association with Sri Lanka Scouts Association and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Hospital.

The Day’s in-house observance began at the Chancery early morning with ceremonial hoisting of the national flag at half-mast followed by one-minute of silence and special prayers for the Language Martyrs and reading out messages of high dignitaries of Bangladesh.

Celebrated with heightened enthusiasm and dedication, World Scout Day honors the remarkable works of scouts across the globe, acknowledging their positive impact on countless lives. Originating in India in 1909, scouting rapidly gained popularity, leading to the emergence of numerous scout and guide associations throughout the country. Each year, World Thinking Day revolves around a distinct theme, often addressing global challenges. The 2024 theme, for instance, is "Our World, Our Thriving Future: The environment and global poverty." Previous themes have covered crucial topics such as "Our World, Our Peaceful Future: The environment, peace, and security" and "Our World, Our Equal Future: The environment and gender equality." Through these themes, World Thinking Day encourages reflection, discussion, and action on global issues while promoting unity and understanding among young girls on a global scale. World Thinking Day takes place every year on February 22, with World Thinking Day 2024 falling on a Thursday. 

World Thinking Day History:

World Thinking Day has been celebrated by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts every year for nearly 100 years! The inaugural event was organized in 1926 after delegates for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts met at Camp Edith Macy in New York for a conference. At the conference, it was decided that there needed to be a dedicated day for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to think about the spread of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting across the globe and not only the appreciation of the cultural diversity this comes part and parcel with but also the acknowledgment of the global issues that Girl Guides and Girl Scouts everywhere may be facing.

February 22 was chosen as “Thinking Day” to honor the joint birthday of the founders of the Scouting initiative, Lord Baden-Powell and his wife Olave. Later, in 1932, it was proposed that the Girl Scouts raise money for the organization in honor of the day. From then, each Girl Scout was asked to donate a penny each World Thinking Day. In 1999, the day was officially renamed “World Thinking Day” to reflect the growth of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts organization. Today, the event is celebrated by over 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide.
